What does a phlebotomist even do? Good question! Phlebotomists are one of the most essential members of the patient's healthcare team and the All-Star of any lab that they work for. A phlebotomist's job often entails collecting blood (and other bodily fluid specimens) from patients transporting them promptly to the lab so that they can be analyzed. You may also wonder why this is important. Doctor's use the results from the lab tests to properly diagnose and treat patients effectively. Without phlebotomist, patients would be a lot harder to treat!
We have two options for our Phlebotomy Training, a 4-Week Saturday Only course or, our 6-Week (Monday Wednesday Friday) phlebotomy course.
During the course students will learn accurate collection techniques, patient care, and laws surrounding the Phlebotomy Profession. Our curriculum is built to ensure student success. Students begin practicing drawing blood beginning the first day of our 4-week class and the beginning of the 3rd week of our 6-week class. Each week the students gain more experience to their drawing technique, as well as different type of collection techniques. Students practice LIVE sticks for 12, yes 12, class days! We practice how we play, you won't be sticking mannequins out in the real world, so I don't spend very much time using them in the classroom.
Classes are held all year long. Students are allowed to pick the time that works best for them. For our 6-Week Class we have two time slots available: 9a-12p, or 5p-8p. Our Saturday class is from 9a-2p, with a 30-minute lunch break provided.
